God what a fucking mess! What am I going to do about Ethan? I can’t stop thinking about him. “I still don’t know why the timeline wasn’t repaired when I retrieved whatever it was that I brought back. Maybe it’s supposed to be taken somewhere, or maybe it was there for a reason that would have righted whatever caused the timeline to skew.” He said to his boss.
“That’s perhaps the biggest pain in the ass we have to deal with in this job.” his boss, Duncan, said. “Too many maybe’s and what-if’s. Once the lab finishes their analysis of the fragment we might get some answers."
The only answer I'm really interested in is what to do about my feelings for Ethan. Ryan thought to himself. Aloud he said, "I hope whatever answers the lab comes up with have instructions on what to do attached."
"We can only hope." Duncan responded. He reached behind him to the music system just as Grace Slick belted out the words: "One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small..." from Jefferson airplane's hit song "White Rabbit". "There's something else that's bothering you."
"Nah." Ryan denied. "I'm just tired and frustrated. I can't figure out how to fix the timeline alteration." Nor the alteration in my personal life.
"Oh, I think its more than that. I've known you too long.Talk."
"I wouldn't even begin to know where to start."
"How about the beginning?"
"You know I was sent back to 2132 to retrieve an out-of-time object when should have reset the timeline. As you know, it didn't, so I went back a second time. Liam fucked up the coordinates and I materialized right in front of one of the locals."
"Shit! What did you do?"
"I caught him as he passed out." And held him in my arms, which felt amazing. "I eased him down to the floor and waited for him come to. When he finally did, I was able to convince him that I didn't 'just appear' in front of him, but that I came in to see what type of restorations he did just as he turned around. I think he bought it."
"Okaaayyyy....and?" He drawled.
"There's more that you're not telling me. You're not leaving this office until I know everything that's going on. Sit and spill." Duncan ordered.
Ryan's shoulder's drooped. He hung his head and sighed. In a very quiet voice he did as ordered. "I'm pretty sure that I've fallen in love with Ethan."
"Ethan? The guy from the past?" Duncan couldn't have kept the surprise from his voice if he tried. Ryan nodded. "Fuck." came quietly from Duncan's lips as he slumped back into his chair. Rubbing his hand over his face he looked at Ryan. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah." said Ryan in a broken voice. "I really fucked this mission up, and fucked myself up in the process."
"So what are you going to do now?" Duncan asked quietly.
Ryan's reply came out as a hoarse whisper. "Give him up."
Over dinner Ethan and Chris continued to talk. "So describe him to me." Chris demanded.
"I'd say he was about 6-2, maybe 215 pounds, and even his muscles had muscles. His hair was crimson and his eyes were cerulean." This drew a chuckle from Chris. "What's so funny?"
"Only you would use terms like 'crimson' and 'cerulean' instead of saying 'red' or 'green'."
"So not happening, little brother. However, I suspect that if this Ryan guy were to flash his dick in front of your face you'd be bent over with your pants around your ankles quicker n' shit." Chris teased.
"Yeah, don't I wish." Ryan responded wistfully.
"Hey, you never know."
"Come on, look at me. Nobody that hot would even give me a second glance."
"And why not?"
"Well, for one thing, I'm about 25 pounds overweight, and I wear glasses. Two major strikes against me."
"Is the gay community that superficial?"
"Around here? Guys my age? Hell to the yeah. Not to mention the fact that our parents pushed me out of a helicopter right over a 100-foot ugly tree and made sure I hit every branch on the way down."
Here we go again with the self-esteem issues. Fucking Patrick really did a number on him. I wanna find that cocksucker, cut off his dick, stuff it and shove it up his ass. Chris thought vehemently. Aloud he said, "I thought we were past all this.
"Patrick dumped me for a guy a lot skinnier and better looking than me. What does that say?"
"That he was a superficial ass-wipe and he couldn't see what a great person you are and what a great thing you two had. Forget about that dick stain. He isn't even worth using as a cum rag. You can and will do so much better."
"Wow. Don't hold back. Tell me how you really feel about him. Seriously, dude. Let it all hang out." Ethan's sarcasm generator was set on nuclear.
"All I'm saying is give yourself a break. Who knows where it will lead."
"I don't even know if he's gay, let alone interested in me."
"Well there's one way to find out."
